Foundations of Media Production
REQUIRED for all RTF majors entering the program effective Fall 2018.
From Fall 2018 – Spring 2021, the course was 2 credits.
Effective Fall 2021, the course is 3 credits.
This course is a prerequisite for all other RTF production courses.
This introductory-level media production course provides students hands-on foundational experience in the processes, procedures, equipment and technology required for future coursework. Students gain basic competencies in camera operation using DSLR photo/video cameras, lens operation and understanding of lens properties, basic lighting terms and approaches, audio recording and microphone choices, audio and video editing, use of online systems including the RTF Equipment Room reservation system, online course resources including Canvas and Google Drive.
